Insider Design Trends
1. What is Green Advantage®?

Green Advantage® is an environmental certification for building-related practitioners - primarily contractors, subcontractors and trades people. Certified individuals have successfully passed the Green Advantage® Certification Exam demonstrating knowledge of current green building principles, materials, and techniques. Commercial, Residential, and Commercial/Residential Certifications are available, with a specific exam required for each. Because the green building field is rapidly changing, candidates must pass a Re-certification Exam every three years in order to remain Green Advantage® Certified.

2. How can Green Advantage® Certification help my project attain LEED Certification?

A LEED Innovation Credit has been granted if a significant percentage of an eligible project's building force is Green Advantage® Certified prior to the commencement of construction.

3. University of Florida Study Confirms Benefits of Green Advantage Certification -  http://www.greenadvantage.org/PressReleaseUFL.php

In order to become a Green Advantage® Certified Practitioner, Karen had to demonstrate foundational knowledge, comprehension, application and ability to analyze green construction concepts, materials, and practices by passing a Green Advantage® exam with a score of 75% or higher.  Particular emphasis was given to understanding the role of construction personnel in improving the environmental and health attributes of the built environment.

Certification is based on an established set of standards, and is overseen and judged by a group of experts who make up the Green Advantage® Certification Board. Green Advantage® offers three types of construction certification exams – commercial, residential, and commercial/residential. Karen Downey is a Green Advantage® Certified Practitioner in Commerical/Residential.
